On the night of October 12, Baba Siddique, a veteran Maharashtra politician and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader, was tragically shot dead. The 66-year-old was well-known for his ties with Bollywood celebrities like Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan. Siddique served as a state minister in the Congress-NCP government from 2004 to 2008 and was a three-time MLA. His murder has sent shockwaves through both political and entertainment circles.
Lawrence Bishnoi - Salman Khan Link
The Mumbai police have confirmed that the three shooters involved in Siddique's assassination are linked to the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang. DCP Crime Branch Datta Nalawade stated, “Baba Siddique didn't have a categorised security but he was given 3 security personnel from Mumbai police." At the time of the incident, one of these officers was present with Siddique. The police are exploring all angles in this case, including potential connections to Salman Khan.

Bishnoi has previously threatened Salman Khan due to their alleged connections, which adds another layer of complexity to this investigation. Following Siddique’s murder near his son Zeeshan Siddique's office in Bandra East, speculation regarding the Bishnoi gang's involvement intensified. This was later substantiated by a Facebook post from Shubuu Lonkar, an associate of Bishnoi, who claimed responsibility for the crime, as per reports.
In a chilling message, the Bishnoi gang not only took credit for Siddique’s murder but also issued threats against anyone associated with Salman Khan. They warned that anyone who supports the actor would be targeted. In his post, Lonkar alleged that Siddique had ties to India's most wanted terrorist Dawood Ibrahim and had been close to Khan.

Lawrence Bishnoi’s Threats Against Salman Khan
The gang’s animosity towards Khan stems from an incident dating back to 1998 when he was accused of killing blackbucks in Jodhpur—a sacred animal for the Bishnoi community. Lawrence Bishnoi has openly vowed to kill Salman Khan, stating during a court appearance in 2018: “We will kill Salman Khan in Jodhpur. Everyone will know once we take action.”
The threat against Salman Khan has greatly shadowed the film industry. Several celebrities have reportedly been targeted due to their perceived closeness to the actor. Notable incidents include:
- Shots fired at Punjabi singer Gippy Grewal's house in Vancouver, Canada (November 2023)
- A similar attack on singer AP Dhillon's residence, also in Vancouver (September 2024)
Both incidents were attributed to the Bishnoi gang, with the organisation explicitly mentioning the artists' connections to Salman Khan as motivation for the attacks.
Salman Khan’s Heightened Security Measures

In response to these threats, security around Salman Khan's residence at Galaxy Apartments in Bandra has been significantly increased. This follows an earlier shooting incident outside his home on April 14, which Khan believes was orchestrated by the Bishnoi gang. The police have also bolstered security in South Mumbai’s Malabar Hill area, where key political figures reside.
The murder of Baba Siddique has not only raised questions about political safety but also highlighted the dangerous intersection between crime and celebrity culture in India. As investigations continue into the links between the Bishnoi gang and high-profile figures like Salman Khan, heightened security measures reflect growing concerns over personal safety among those connected to the entertainment industry.
