Harmanpreet Kaur was born to Harmandar Singh Bhullar, a basketball and volleyball player and mother, Satwindar Kaur on March 8, 1989, in Moha, Punjab. Harmanpreet grew up with her parents and younger sister Hemjeet. Kaur’s father himself dreamt of becoming a cricket player once. Later, he became Harmanpreet’s first coach as she stepped into the world of cricket. She completed her early education at Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya Jalandhar but her cricket journey started after she got enrolled in the Gian Jyoti School Academy, which is 30 kilometres (19 miles) from her home. She was trained by coach Kamaldish Singh Sodhi.

In 2014, Harmanpreet moved to Mumbai and started working for Indian Railways. She regards Virendra Sehwag as her biggest inspiration during her learning stages of cricket.

Harmanpreet Kaur began her international cricket journey at the age of 20 against Pakistan in the 2009 World Cup at Bradman Oval, Bowral in March 2009. In the same year, she made her Twenty 20 debut in June against England in the ICC Women’s World Twenty 20 at County Ground, Taunton. She is currently leading the Indian Women’s Cricket Team.
