Also featured is Neeraj Ghaywan’s highly anticipated second feature, ‘Homebound,’ which will premiere in the Un Certain Regard category. Produced by Karan Johar and Adar Poonawalla under Dharma Productions, the film stars Ishaan Khatter, Vishal Jethwa, and Janhvi Kapoor, all of whom are expected to attend the premiere alongside the director and producer duo.

Another exciting entry is Indira Baikerika’s ‘The Second Wind,’ which hopes to capture global attention and promote Indian storytelling internationally.

Celebrating Indian Cinema At Cannes Classics

Veteran actress Sharmila Tagore will mark her return to Cannes for the world premiere of the digitally restored version of Satyajit Ray’s 1970 film ‘Aranyer Din Ratri’ (Days and Nights in the Forest), accompanied by co-star Simi Garewal. The 4K restoration has been supported by The Film Foundation (founded by Martin Scorsese) and India’s Film Heritage Foundation.

Notably, Wes Anderson, who serves on The Film Foundation’s board, will honour Ray during the event. Also attending will be Purnima Dutta, wife of the late producer Asim Dutta, a longtime Ray collaborator.

More Indian Highlights At Cannes 2025

Actor-director Anupam Kher’s film ‘Tanvi: The Great’ will have its world premiere at the Marché du Film (Cannes Film Market). The announcement was made on social media, with the team expressing pride in the film’s global debut.

Meanwhile, the student film ‘A Doll Made Up of Clay,’ made by the talented students of Kolkata’s Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (SRFTI), has earned a spot in La Cinef, Cannes’ dedicated section for budding filmmakers.
