Payal Kapadia’s nomination at the Golden Globes was historic in its own right. She became only the second Indian director to be nominated at the Golden Globes, following Shekhar Kapur, for the English film ‘Elizabeth’. Notably, Kapadia is the first Indian filmmaker to be nominated for an award for a Malayalam film, marking a significant milestone for Indian cinema on the global stage.

Payal Kapadia’s Film Nominated for BAFTA Awards
Despite not securing a win at the Golden Globes, ‘All We Imagine As Light’ has maintained a strong presence in the international awards circuit. The film has been longlisted for the upcoming BAFTA Film Awards in three categories, including Best Director. The results of the first round of voting were shared by the British Academy, adding to the film’s growing list of international recognitions.
‘All We Imagine As Light’ won the prestigious Grand Prix award at the Cannes Film Festival, marking a major achievement in Kapadia's career. It won numerous accolades, including honours from the Chicago International Film Festival, Gotham Awards, and various Film Critics associations in cities like Los Angeles, San Diego, Chicago, Toronto, New York, Dublin, and Philadelphia. The film also won at the Asia Pacific Screen Awards.

‘All We Imagine As Light’ is an international co-production, bringing together talent and resources from several countries, including France, India, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, and Italy.
