In a romantic union steeped in history and personal significance, actors Aditi Rao Hydari and Siddharth recently exchanged vows at the 400-year-old Sri Ranganayaka Swamy Temple. This architectural marvel, located in Srirangapur, Wanaparthy district of Telangana, served as the perfect backdrop for the couple's intimate ceremony.
Sri Ranganayaka Swamy Temple History
The Sri Ranganayakaswamy Temple, an 18th-century masterpiece, stands as a testament to the rich Vijayanagara architectural style. Its inception is shrouded in a captivating legend involving King Krishnadevaraya of the Vijayanagar Empire. Inspired by the splendour of the Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple in Srirangam, Tamil Nadu, the king sought to recreate its magnificence in his own realm.
According to local lore, a divine dream guided Krishnadevaraya to discover the idol of Lord Ranganatha nestled between the Kothakota and Kanvayapally mountains. This serendipitous find led to the temple's construction near the Ratna Pushkarini Lake, forever altering the landscape and spiritual fabric of the region.
The temple has become a popular destination for devotees and tourists from neighbouring states such as Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Maharashtra. Each year, it hosts approximately 300 weddings, as noted on its official website.
