“Smile is a curve that sets everything straight.” I am a dentist and I have personally witnessed how empowering it can be for women to have a precious, beautiful smile, most especially those aged over 60. Normal ageing causes wear and tear in the body.
As we grow old, our teeth naturally become discoloured or worn out or even lost. Not only do these influence oral health, but they are devastating to the element of confidence.

For a woman, beautiful smile affects the mood positively, improves body image positively and improves confidence. So shying away from smiling isn’t a long-term solution. The positive thing is that nowadays dentistry has simple but efficient methods to restore functionality and confidence.
I am walking you through a few dental treatments that can improve your looks and personality with no major downtime.
When teeth are chipped or stained or weakened, then they can be beautifully restored with porcelain crowns and veneers. They appear natural and are able to quickly rejuvenate the smile. We can change the colour, shape, and a little bit of alignment of your teeth that can mimic an ideal smile that goes well with your facial features.
Whitening provides teeth that are clean and pleasant in colour, or in other words, professional whitening is effective and safe, and reverses all those years of stains gaining on your teeth due to tea, coffee, or even medications. With just a hint of brightening, it is also possible to help a woman feel younger and even more radiant.
Yellow teeth are most common causes which affect confidence to smile. It takes more effort to smile as the person is trying really hard not to smile with those yellow teeth.

There is no need to let missing teeth stand in your way. Back in the old days, the extraction of teeth was a common practice; some people lost teeth to decay or failed root canals and crowns. That gap is seen, and I have seen patients smile consciously to avoid that gap being seen while smiling.
Implants can be permanent and natural-looking, whereas bridges can be very effective where implants are not an option, but both relax the power to chew and boost confidence. Those gaps aren’t seen, and those missing teeth are replaced, which aids in chewing and thus digestion. Implants are as good as natural teeth in terms of strength and endurance.
The dentures of today are comfortable, discreet and tailor-made. Options that use implant support give steadiness, and women need not be afraid to speak and eat. Flexible dentures provide thin yet strong gum support, and these dentures feel far less in weight and which aids in quick adaptability to dentures.
It is very crucial to take care of the gums. Some patients complain of constant gum bleeding, bad breath and decay. I have instances where patients come and ask for treatment which would help to hide their gums. Hiding is never a solution; treating the inflammation and effectively removing the infection through cleaning and polishing helps.
With digital smile design and periodontal therapy, we can level the gums and teeth to harmonise the smile, creating a softer look. With smile designing, we create an aesthetic effect which positively impacts the self-image.
You feel more comfortable and confident with your personality, as the shape of the teeth is given according to the personality you have.
