How To Overcome A Friend Break Up?

Here are a few tips that will help you overcome a friend breakup:

Acknowledge Your Pain

It’s a human tendency to ignore the feelings we are going through. However, it makes the situation more difficult to handle. The first step in dealing with these difficult emotions is to acknowledge the pain. Ms Anuradha said, “During this difficult transition, be gentle with yourself and allow space to process the complicated emotions without judgement.”

self care

Sohini Rohra, Counselling Psychologist and Mental Health Advocate said, “To effectively process the grief associated with a breakup, it's crucial to acknowledge and label one's feelings, whether it be guilt, betrayal, abandonment, sadness, or disappointment. Once feelings are identified, individuals can begin the healing journey.”

Indulge In SelfCare

Though it feels easier to stay in bed and cry over the things that you can’t control, make sure you get out and take care of yourself. Don’t drown yourself in the emotion, rather do things that make you feel better.

It’s better to talk to someone you are comfortable with sharing your feelings. You can speak to your parents, colleagues, or even another friend. Speaking out your feelings will make you feel lighter and better.

Ms Anuradha said, “Surrounding yourself with other supportive connections can help fill the void. Most importantly, trust that the healing process takes time, but you will eventually emerge stronger and wiser, with a renewed appreciation for the enduring friendships that remain.”
