The fifth and final season of Netflix’s popular psychological thriller ‘You’ picks up three years after the events of season 4. It shows Joe Goldberg returning to New York and living a luxurious life with his wife Kate and son Henry while suppressing his instincts to kill. But he can only repress his dark side for so long. After discovering that he is being catfished by his bookstore manager and new love interest Bronte (Madeline Brewer), his life unravels. Joe Goldberg’s Ending Explained
Joe’s story comes full circle in season 5 as he finds himself in life imprisonment. During a violent confrontation with Bronte, he was finally captured by the police and was forced to face the consequences of his actions. He was charged with the murder of Guinevere Beck (Elizabeth Lail), Love Quinn (Victoria Pedretti), Benji Ashby (Lou Taylor Pucci), Peach Salinger (Shay Mitchell), and many others.
Bronte Brings Justice to Her Late Friend
After making sure Joe gets the fate he deserves, Bronte brings back her late friend Beck’s honour and makes sure the world listens to her side of the story.. At first, Bronte encounters some hiccups, including falling in love with Joe, but later manages to dupe him. In the end, Bronte isn’t sure what she wants to be in the world; she is eager to figure it out without the weight of Joe’s intentions looming over her.
Kate Rediscovers Her Love for Art
After Kate survives the near-death experience, trying to put Joe’s life to an end, she rediscovers her love of art. She reunites with Joe and Love’s son Henry, whom she had sent away for his safety. Leaving the C-Suite life behind, she becomes a full-time parent to him.
Reagan Lockwood Is Killed
Reagan Lockwood, the evil sibling of Kate, gets killed by her twin sister Maddie. Joe manipulated Maddie into killing Reagan so she could live the life she always wanted while he fulfilled his personal motives.
Maddie Lockwood Lives Happily Ever After
Maddie, who killed her evil twin sister Reagan under Joe’s manipulation, finds herself free from a jail sentence and lives a happy life with Harrison and Gretchen, Reagan's daughter whom she gave birth to. The ending scenes also show her and Harrison expecting twins.
