All episodes of ‘The Night Agent’ Season 3 are now out on Netflix, and it's apparent that very few characters were left in the last few episodes without being affected. The operation started as a covert op in Istanbul for Peter Sutherland. Still, the conspiracy that it uncovered has massive implications, ranging from attempts at assassination to the White House itself.

By the time the final episode rolled around, loyalties had been switched, the balance of power had been adjusted, and several story arcs that had been ongoing for a long time had finally been resolved.

The Night Agent Season 3 Ending Explained: What Was the Fate of Jacob Monroe?

Jacob Monroe was spending most of the season cornering Peter to use the secrets he had against him. After the last season’s awkward alliance, Peter had wanted to cut all ties with Monroe, but the latter showed him that he was a necessary ally.

Towards the end of the season, Peter discovers that Isabel, a journalist he has grown close to, is actually Monroe’s daughter. The complicated family dynamic made an already perilous situation even more so. He was eventually stalked by a professional assassin, also known as the Father, who sought to erase all ties between his organisation and Monroe’s shady business practices after banker Freya Myers hired him to clean up any loose ends.

Although he managed to survive the ordeal, Monroe tried to make one last deal with Peter, claiming that he would expose the vast web of corruption he had helped to weave, but never had the chance to. Adam, Peter’s new Night Agent, took direct orders from President Hagan to kill Monroe, as the President knew too much about him and the First Lady’s involvement in illegal campaign financing and was likely to implicate them both.

The Night Agent Season 3 Ending Explained: President and First Lady Hagan's Downfall

Perhaps the most interesting storyline of the season was the fall of President Richard Hagan and his wife, First Lady Jenny Hagan. It was revealed that, before the election, Jenny had worked with Monroe to funnel illegal campaign donations to her struggling campaign through her charitable foundation and Freya Myers' bank by laundering the money.

However, she made sure that a White House staffer, who threatened to blow their cover, would be shot by security detail member Chelsea Arrington, who said that the man was armed. She then wiped the man's messages from his phone so that they could not be traced. When it became clear that her husband would be caught up in the scandal, she told Adam to take care of her loose ends, including Chelsea.

Fortunately, Peter showed up in time to stop him. They were later able to get an on-camera confession from Myers that revealed the entire scandal, forcing President Hagan to pardon themselves from the charges before he left office, but their reputations were ruined.

The Night Agent Season 3 Ending Explained: The Father and Freya Myers

The assassin known as the Father, who has been shrouded in mystery, seems to have had a change of heart throughout the season. As he raises the son of two former victims, he begins to question the morality of his line of work. Ultimately, he decides to back out of his contract and return the payment to Freya, opting to live a normal life instead. However, as soon as he realises he is attempting to turn over a new leaf, Myers begins to try to kill him in an attempt to further her own agenda.

In response to her threat against his son, he agrees to meet with her in disguise at a quiet bar, and it seems quite evident that she is given poisoned alcohol in her drink. It is not stated outright, but it is implied that she died, and he was able to escape with his son to live a peaceful life.

The Night Agent Season 3 Ending Explained: Did Peter Sutherland survive?

Yes, however, he does walk away from his duty for a while after he finds out the whole extent of the corruption. By the time Deputy Director of the FBI Aiden Mosley comes to him with the idea that he is ready for his next assignment, he has a new Night Agent partner that he can count on to help him on his missions; in fact, the two are close to making a breakthrough on some potentially problematic issues in the White House.

Chelsea moves forward to get married to the love of her life, and Isabel uses her investigative reporting skills to uncover the crime ring; thankfully, she does not put Peter's name in the article, so that he can be kept safe, and the whole conspiracy cannot be traced back to him. Season 3 ends with Peter alive and well, if not a bit wiser. The possibilities are endless for ‘The Night Agent!’
