In a significant step towards embracing the digital future, Prasar Bharati, India's national public broadcaster, has launched its OTT platform, WAVES, at the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa. Chief Minister of Goa, Dr Pramod Sawant, along with other key dignitaries, including Sanjay Jaju, Secretary I&B, graced the occasion. This launch marks a transformative shift in India's entertainment and infotainment landscape, combining Prasar Bharati's legacy with cutting-edge digital streaming services, according to the Government of India - Press Information Bureau.

WAVES promises a rich mix of content that appeals to both nostalgic viewers and the tech-savvy younger generation. The platform offers classic Indian television shows like Ramayan, Mahabharat, Shaktimaan, and Hum Log, alongside contemporary programming, news, documentaries, and regional content.

This ensures that it caters to diverse audience preferences while maintaining a deep cultural connection with India's past. WAVES is available in over 12 languages, including Hindi, English, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Gujarati, and more, allowing it to serve viewers across India and beyond.

65 Live Channels and More on WAVES

One of the standout features of WAVES is its offering of 65 live channels spanning a wide range of genres, including news, entertainment, sports, music, and devotional content. Users can stream live TV, listen to radio, and enjoy video-on-demand services—all from one platform. In addition, WAVES integrates free-to-play gaming, making it an interactive destination for entertainment. For those who love to shop, the platform also features e-commerce integration through Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC), expanding the platform’s reach beyond just content consumption.
