Netflix's Adolescence Becomes Most-Watched TV Show

Initially compared to ‘Baby Reindeer,’ another unexpected Netflix breakout, ‘Adolescence’ has quickly proven it’s in a league of its own. The series has already secured the ninth spot on Netflix’s all-time most-watched English TV list, an astonishing achievement given its short time on the platform. Netflix calculates its ‘most popular’ rankings over 91 days, meaning it has over two months to climb even higher.

The show’s meteoric rise has reshuffled Netflix’s rankings. ‘Stranger Things’ Season 3, previously a stronghold in the Top 10 with 94.8 million views, has now slipped to 10th place, while ‘Bridgerton’ Season 2 (93.8 million views) has been knocked out entirely.

Globally, ‘Adolescence’ has dominated, topping Netflix’s English TV charts in every country where rankings are available. Between March 24 and 30 alone, it drew 30.4 million views, proving its universal appeal transcends borders.

While ‘Adolescence’ continues to dominate Netflix’s English TV charts, other shows like ‘The Residence’ and ‘Million Dollar Secret’ are also gaining traction. Shonda Rhimes' ‘The Residence’ secured second place with 8.8 million views, while the reality series ‘Million Dollar Secret’ took third with 3.7 million views.

Though ‘Squid Game’ remains Netflix’s most-watched series and ‘Wednesday’ holds the English-language record, ‘Adolescence’ shows no signs of slowing down. With 10+ weeks left in its tracking window, it could easily surge into the Top five or higher.

The rise of ‘Adolescence’ further solidifies Netflix's role as the leading global streaming service, with the platform’s ability to turn relatively unknown shows into massive hits. With over two months left to rack up additional viewership, it’s safe to say that ‘Adolescence’ might continue to break records and solidify its place as one of the platform’s greatest successes.
