The 25-year-old actor will be leading the desi amalgamation of ‘Emily In Paris’, ‘2 Broke Girls’, and ‘Schitt’s Creek’ in her upcoming web series ‘Call Me Bae’. As Johar promises in the hilarious parody teaser, she will appear in a never-seen-before avatar, playing an affluent young girl who ends up losing all her wealth but keeps her confidence intact. ‘Call Me Bae’ features Ananya Panday as Bella 'Bae' Chowdhary, a South Delhi girl who in one night loses her generations of wealth. From an heiress, she is downsized to “Mirza-poor”. However, despite losing her all, her confidence and will to make it big in Mumbai, a new city, keeps her on her feet. Thus, her journey takes flight as she knocks on the doors of media companies to get a job after her qualification in “social media journalism.” Meanwhile we also see her “struggle” as she works at cafes for part-time jobs and takes an auto for the first time.
