Although Pakistani passport holders can travel to India, they are required to obtain a visa prior to entry. However, the visa application process for Pakistani citizens tends to be more complex. This is primarily due to the historical tensions and security concerns between India and Pakistan, which results in a more stringent and more time-consuming process. Consequently, obtaining a visa can be challenging, often requiring extra paperwork and approval.

Waqas Hassan shared this revelation on Instagram, where he explained the details of his journey and how he came to know about this visa-free transit option. “I have been travelling for 15 years. Nobody told me that we [Pakistanis] can transit through India. So when I booked this ticket, there was a slight bit of risk involved as well,” Waqas Hassan shared in the video.

He further shared his experience of relaxing in an airport lounge, picking up souvenirs, and trying one of Mumbai’s famous street foods - vada pav, a popular snack known for its spicy, crispy goodness. In the video, he also shared, “When I gave them my passport at the airport, they also looked at me in surprise. They said not many Pakistani people do this, so it was a new experience for them as well.”
