Wonder Women: Director Anjali Menon Reveals Film Was Shot In 12 Days

Filmmaker Anjali Menon is all set for the release of her women-centric movie Wonder Women on November 18, 2022. It will also stream on SonyLIV on the same date. Wonder Women tells the tale of six expecting women from various backgrounds who attend Nandita's prenatal class called "Sumana". As they prepare to become mothers, she refers to them as "Real superheroes." They learn their true identities and the solutions to their underlying issues in their journey to understand their new lives.

In a recent media interaction with News 18, the director revealed that the movie was shot in 12 days. She said, "The cast was convinced after realising that there are hardly any subjects showcasing ‘intense, challenging, joyful and rewarding friendships between women. “I was really curious about how come we don’t get to see this on screen. Rather than sitting and complaining, we (thought) to be the change. So let’s make a narrative that is like that. I was on the lookout for an experience that was possibly exclusively female and that’s when I thought about the pregnancy process."

Further, she mentioned, "Everybody got equally excited and that’s when I spoke to my friends and said, ‘Hey, there’s this character, would you like to come along?’ Very soon we put the cast together and jumped off. We shot the film in 12 days, it’s a very simple, little film and all of them really stuck their necks out, worked very long hours and everything but it was just that much".

Talking about the concept of the film, Anjali Menon said in a statement, “Experience has shown me that sisterhoods may strengthen us both personally and socially. With Wonder Women, I aimed to depict this intimate friendship through a variety of characters with different backgrounds and their feisty and entertaining approach to life.“

The cast includes Nadiya Moidu, Nithya Menen, Parvathy Thiruvothu, Padmapriya Janakiraman, Sayanora Philip, Archana Padmini, and Amruta Subhash in the main leading roles. The movie trailer was released on November 3, 2022, and is all set to premiere on November 18, 2022.
