Every year, the festival of Guru Nanak Jayanti is observed on the Kartik Purnima tithi. This year, we will be celebrating Guru Puab on November 15, 2024, marking the 555th anniversary of Guru Nanak Ji. It will begin at 06:19 am on November 15, and end at 02:58 am on November 16, 2024.

The followers remember and honour his core teachings on this day, Vaand Chhako (share with others), Kirat Karo (live an honest life), Naam Japo (remember god), and Sarbat Daa Bhalaa (serve humanity and pray for everyone’s well-being). There are a lot of Bhandaras held on this day along with functions and celebratory gatherings, especially at Gurudwaras.
The Akhand Path which is the continuous recitation of the Guru Granth Sahib, begins two days prior to the festival. There is also a ritual of the Nagarkirtan cavalcade that takes place a day before the birth date of Guru Nanak Ji. It is led by Panj Pyare and includes performances like soulful hymns, Gatka, and folk music.

On this day, the devotees start the celebrations early in the morning with Asaa-Ki-Vaar, Path and Kirtan from 4 to 6. Then, begins the Prabhat Pheri cavalcade which is followed by Langar. In the evening, Rehras and Kirtan are performed and the festival is concluded with Gurbani at 01:15 am which is believed to be the time of birth of Guru Nanak Ji.
