What Is Pran Pratishtha And Its Significance?

The Pran Pratishtha is the process of consecrating an idol, i.e., establishing the life form of the deity in the idol itself. Before performing the Pran Pratishtha of any idol in your home, you are advised to consult with an astrology expert so that you can gain auspicious benefits from it.

It is believed that installing an idol and doing its Pran Pratishtha brings you the complete and auspicious results of worshipping it.

How Is Pran Pratishtha Done?

While there are many rituals associated with this process, generally, it is done by chanting several Mantras, performing the Abhisheka of that idol and worshipping the Lord.

Many things like Shubh Muhurat, favourable planetary positions, etc., are to be kept in mind for performing this sacred ritual.

• Also, you and your family members should refrain from consuming any Tamasic food item on that day to avoid losses and inauspicious effects.

How Long Is The Procedure Of Pran Pratishtha?

Usually, it takes about four to five hours including all the rituals that are to be followed for Pran Pratishtha (Detailed Ramlala Pran Pratishtha Puja Vidhi) of an idol. However, it can take more time depending on the customs associated with the consecration of different Gods and Goddesses as described in the scriptures.
