Taylor Swift has announced her upcoming album, titled Midnight. The album is all set to release on October 21, 2022.
While receiving the Video of the Year award at the MTV Video Music Awards on August 28, 2022, the singer and songwriter only announced that her new album will come out in October. However, Swift only revealed the name and details later through her social media.
“I wouldn’t be able to re-record my albums if it weren’t for you. You emboldened me to do that. And I had made up my mind that if you were going to be this generous and give us this [award], I thought it might be a fun moment to tell you that my brand new album comes out October 21. And I will tell you more at midnight,” said Swift in her acceptance speech. She received her Video of the Year award for her 10-minute version of All Too Well.
Swift later took to social media and wrote, “Midnights, the stories of 13 sleepless nights scattered throughout my life, will be out October 21. Meet me at midnight.”

“We lie awake in love and in fear, in turmoil and in tears. We stare at walls and drink until they speak back. We twist in our self-made cages and pray that we aren’t- right this minute- about to make some fateful life-altering mistake,” as per the singer’s synopsis of the new album.
She further added that “this is a collection of music written in the middle of the night, a journey through terrors and sweet dreams. The floors we pace and the demons we face. For all of us who have tossed and turned and decided to keep the lanterns lit and go searching- hoping that just maybe, when the clock strikes twelve… we’ll meet ourselves.”

The upcoming album will mark her first new music since Folklore and Evermore, were released in 2020. This is her 10th studio album. Folklore and Evermore were released after her long-term contract with Big Machine Label Group terminated which ended in her losing rights to her own songs. This incident inspired two new tracks– My Tears Ricochet and Mad Woman.
