Taapsee Pannu Starrer Blurr To Have A Direct OTT Release

Blurr, the upcoming Hindi horror thriller starring Taapsee Pannu and Gulshan Devaiah, is set to get a direct release on OTT instead of a theatrical release. The film will premiere on December 9 on Zee5.

Pannu took to social media on November 24 to make the announcement. “There’s always more than what meets the eye! #BlurrOnZEE5 premieres 9th December,” she wrote. The upcoming film marks the debut of Pannu as a producer as well.

Directed by Ajay Bahl and jointly produced under the banner of Zee Studios, Outsiders Films, and Echelon Productions, the upcoming film is the official Hindi remake of the Spanish film Julia's Eyes. The psychological thriller film revolves around a woman named Julia who is suffering from degenerative sight disease. She finds her twin sister Sara, who has already gone blind after suffering from the same disease, hanged in the basement of her house. Despite everything pointing toward suicide, Julia decides to follow her intuition that it is a murder case and eventually enters a dark world that seems to hide a mysterious presence.

The upcoming film began shooting in July 2021 and wrapped up shooting on August 31 this year and was reportedly shot in Nainital including its Mall Road and Russian Bypass. Other places include Bhimtal, Bhawali Sattal, and Mukteshwar.

Speaking about her upcoming production, Pannu said in a statement, "That's why it was an immediate yes when Vishal reached out to me for this project. Having shot almost half the film blind folded I am taking back home a lot of memories and real bruises which truly made me value the clear vision even more.”

She further added, "After 'Section 375', I was really looking forward to working with Ajay sir. I hope the OTT audience is ready for some thrills and chills with this one."

Manish Kalra, chief business officer, ZEE5 India, said, “Keeping up with our promise, we are happy to add 'Blurr' to our content library as exclusive content with direct to ZEE5 release. With unique character arcs and powerful performances, the film will quicken the pulse of the audience and engage their minds too.”

Pannu recently appeared in the thriller film DoBaaraa and will be next seen in Rajkumar Hirani’s upcoming film Dunki alongside Shah Rukh Khan, among others.
