Deepti Sharma’s Performance In India vs West Indies Match

Sharma’s spell helped India restrict West Indies to 118 runs of six wickets in 20 overs during their Group B match at Newlands in Cape Town yesterday. Sharma took important wickets of Stafanie Taylor and Shemaine Campbelle, in addition to dismissing Afy Fletcher for a golden duck to hold West Indies to a low total. Sharma has surpassed the records of Poonam Yadav (98), Radha Yadav (67), Rajeshwari Gayakwad (58), Jhulan Goswami (56), and Ekta Bisht (53) to script her name in history in the shortest format of the game. Prior to this, Chahal held the record for taking the most number of wickets by any India cricketer in the T20 format with 91 wickets.

"I feel good. What we discussed in the meeting and the plans I had against the West Indies batters, we were able to apply that in the middle. That is a milestone and I am happy with the achievement (first Indian to 100 T20I wickets). I am focusing on the rest of the World Cup games. There is a bit of turn in this surface and I focus on bowling stump to stump," said Sharma after the match.
