Former actresstelevision talk show host and newspaper columnist, Pooja Bedi has turned 50 this year on May 11, 2020, but she sure doesn't look her age. She has two children with one of them being actress Alaya Furniturewala who made her Bollywood debut with Saif Ali Khan starrer Jawaani Jaaneman. The mother-daughter duo has a beautiful bond and these pics are proof.
22-year-old Alaya and Pooja have a beautiful relationship and they haven't let Pooja's past come in between. In an interview to a leading media house, Alaya had even said that she was just five years old so she hardly remembers muchbut after that she has had a good relationship with both her parents.
She also shared thather "childhood was very different. My mother (Pooja Bedi) was very strict with me. Academics had to come first. It was like 'first do well in your studies and then go out to have fun'--- that was always the rule. So that’s what I did. I kept my grades up and everything was great. Now I study at New York University.” When asked if she misses her grandfather, Alaya had retorted, “I am still on very good terms with him. We meet very often. I don’t like fighting with people.”
In the past, when Alaya had just made her debut, in the times of social media, trolling is a given. Pooja Bedi, like any fierce mom protecting her child like a tigress defending her cub, hit back at Twitter users. “Nepotism nepotism nepotism!! the ‘run to’ word when u want to bash a star kid because u have no other tools in hand! so Let me make it clear. GRATITUDE is when you count your own blessings & JEALOUSY is when you count the blessings given to others. cheers!” she wrote, in response to the trolls who questioned Alaya's debut.

In response, Pooja said: "If you’re damning someone for being born into a family.. then its resentment and jealousy. U need to see their hard work and its results. If someone has performed fabulously & their years of hard work show they deserve their space on the screen why should their birth irk someone?” she replied.
Alaya was also interviewed by a leading daily on how her mother influenced her career path and work, she said: “It does help to have grown up in front of the cameras. My mother’s social and an outspoken person but my confidence actually came from living in New York alone for many years. A lot of my life I wasn’t a social or outgoing person but gradually I became one and New York cemented it and gave a good direction.
"My mother, of course, told me to be prepared, be humble, be grounded and work hard but you also have to be careful and responsible for what you say and what you do. Today, my mom, while sending links of my interviews was telling me to stay focused. One wrong thing you say without realising it and everything will come crashing down.”
Pooja got engaged to her boyfriend, Maneck Contractor in Feb last year and she shared the news through her column. She wrote: “I'm engaged. The love of my life proposed to me in a hot air balloon, hundreds of feet high up in the sky! As he slipped an exquisite ring onto my fingers, my eyes filled with tears. It’s been 16 years since I got divorced and emotionally it’s been such a roller coaster. Each and every relationship that I’ve been in since has added so many dimensions and colour to my life. Most people look back at their past and are filled with regret or pain. I look back with so much gratitude, for good times shared and also, most importantly for teaching me what I don’t want or will not accept.”
