Not all television actors are able to make a place for themselves in another medium and that too such a strong one. But one television actress who has managed to carve a space for herself in the Punjabi film industry is Sargun Mehta. Sargun became a household name as she made her debut with TV show 12/24 Karol Bagh. She was also a part of many television shows like Balika Vadhu, Phulwa, Kya Huaa Tera Vaada among others. Soon, she stepped into the world of movies. She made her debut in Punjabi films with the movie Angrej and then starred in a lot of movies like Love Punjab and Lahoriye.
To promote her upcoming release Chandigarh Amritsar Chandigarh opposite actor and singer Gippy Grewal and we had a quick chat with her.
Her Upcoming Release
Chandigarh Amritsar Chandigarh is the official remake of hit Marathi film Mumbai Pune Mumbai. I watched the film and loved it. I told Karan R Guliani (director) that I really like the film and I hope we are able to make something great out of this. Because when it comes to remakes, you can go wrong. Talking further about the story, Sargun said, "This is a one day story. We don't have an ensmeble cast for this one. It's like just me and Gippy in the movie. We are two strangers and what happens in the next six seven hours after we meet is how the story movies in the film." She further added, "The shooting of this movie was really challenging, we shot it on the streets, markets, we have shot at real locations. This movie hasn't been shot in a studio or with a proper setup."
From Television To Films
It's been a beautiful journey. I have always been a really satisfied person. I was always happy with the work I was doing. Before television, I was doing theatre and I was happy with my zone. I never felt like I need to be somewhere else. I was always happy in my space. When I got any offers, I felt that I was not ready for it. When I first saw a Punjabi movie, I realised that this is my space and I want to be a part of it. I felt it was home ground and I can play here."
"Everyday is a struggle for an actor. Every Friday is a struggle. Sitting at home is also a struggle. When you decline an offer, you should also know that you are leaving that space for other people," she shared on being asked about the challenges she still faces as an actor.
On Winning Awards

Husband Ravi Being Her Anchor
Ravi maintains the work and life balance for me. He is my anchor. I can doubt my decisions, rush into things but then there has to be an anchor who pulls you back. He tells me to not do a thing if I don't like it or you think isn't worth you. He will tell me to rather sit back at home than doing something wrong. Today, when people appreciate me, its because I avoided the work I thought wasn't worth it. I have literally done 1 movie in a year and for a newcomer like me, it was a big thing.
We share a great bond, we don't act like we own each other, we don't call each other through the day. We are not over caring, we are not less caring. You should be able to share all things with your partner, even if you have a crush on anyone. If you can be as normal with your partner as you are with anybody or as you are with yourself then you will be able to enjoy your relationship.
Fitness Secrets
I eat everything I like and then I workout. Out of 365 days, I work for atleast 350 days. I don't have any Sundays or Saturdays, I workout everyday. When I don't have the energy to workout, I do it for just 15 minutes but I don't miss it.
Gippy's Directorial Debut In Bollywood
Gippy Grewal, who was last seen in the movie Lucknow Central has some plans for Bollywood again. He said, "I have some offers from Bollywood in hand but nothing has been finalised yet. But yes, I am going to direct a movie soon. I have just directed one movie in Punjabi till now and it was critically appreciated. After the first part of the movie, people are really wanting to see a sequel. Post directing that I will work on my Bollywood directorial."
