Cameos are a common thing in Bollywood. More often than not we witness the cameos of big stars get greeted with loud cheers and whistles. They sometimes get more fanfare than the films themselves. Indians can’t get enough of special appearances by their favourite Bollywood stars especially if it’s an A-lister like Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor, and the late Irrfan Khan.

Here are the top five cameos that have stayed with us over the past decade.

Brahmāstra: Part One - Shiva (2022)

While the recently released, much-hyped and much-awaited film Brahmāstra: Part One - Shiva comprises an ensemble cast of actors Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Mouni Roy, and Amitabh Bachchan, it was Shah Rukh Khan’s cameo that won over the internet. Directed by Ayan Mukerji, it is a fantasy adventure serving as the first film in the Brahmāstra trilogy, which will be part of its own cinematic universe titled Astraverse. Khan plays the role of Mohan Bhargav, a scientist and a member of the Brahmānsh, who wielded the Vanarāstra in the film.

Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016)

The Karan Johar-directed 2016 musical romantic drama Ae Dil Hai Mushkil has yet another memorable guest appearance from Shah Rukh Khan. The film stars Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the lead. While Kapoor and Rai romance each other in the film, Khan appears as Rai’s ex-husband of. He left a mark with the popular dialogue on one-sided love- ‘Ek tarfa pyar ki taqat hi kuch aur hoti hai. Auron ke rishton ki tarah yeh do logon mein nahi bat'ti sirf mera haq hai ispe.’

PK (2014)

The 2014 Hindi comedy drama film PK starring Aamir Khan in the lead also featured Anushka Sharma, Sushant Singh Rajput, Boman Irani, Saurabh Shukla, and Sanjay Dutt in pivotal roles. The film had a cameo by Ranbir Kapoor at the very end, as another alien who comes from an outer planet just like Aamir Khan’s PK.

Haider (2014)

A modern-day adaptation of William Shakespeare's tragedy Hamlet, the 2014 Hindi film Haider starring Shahid Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor, and Tabu was critically acclaimed and won several awards including five National awards. Late actor Irrfan Khan had an extended cameo appearance in the film, but a very crucial one, where he plays Roohdaar, a member of a Pakistani separatist group.

English Vinglish (2012)

In this 2012 Sridevi starrer coming-of-age film English Vinglish, Amitabh Bachchan had a small cute cameo appearance where he accompanied Sridevi on a flight. He was seen guiding her and making her feel comfortable on her first-ever flight.
