Brahmāstra: Part One - Shiva starring Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, among others, released on September 9, 2022, and has already created new records. The film has already crossed the ₹200 crores mark worldwide.
As per Box Office Mojo, the US box office tracker, the film has collected $26.5 million (₹212 crores) worldwide in its opening weekend, making it one of the highest-grossing Bollywood films so far. About $18.9 million (a little more than ₹ 150 crores) of the total collection came from the domestic market, making it the 10th biggest opening ever in India.

Brahmāstra: Part One - Shiva had already made a record of the highest non-holiday opening of all times on Friday, September 9. And it went on to collect almost ₹105 crore nett on its first weekend without a single holiday to boost footfall. The growth was steep on Saturday, September 10, with a boost of around ₹2 crore nett due to the semi-holiday. As per Box Office India, there was more potential for the film to earn more.
While Brahmāstra: Part One - Shiva collected ₹31 crores on Friday, it was expected to show a growth of 10% on Saturday. It collected ₹35 crores on Saturday and ₹38.5 crores on Sunday.
Creating another history, Brahmāstra: Part One - Shiva collected the highest amount ever on a single day at the PVR by beating Hrithik Roshan starrer War and Yash starrer KGF: Chapter 2. The film had already beaten two of the biggest box-office hits of 2022, RRR and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 in advance bookings at PVR.

However, even amidst widespread boycott calls, everyone looked forward to the film’s release. The boycott trend has been affecting several Bollywood films to an unexpected level in the last few months. Brahmāstra: Part One – Shiva was facing a boycott on social media for several reasons. From nepotism in the industry to old videos of Kapoor allegedly disrespecting women, claiming to enjoy eating beef, and making an insensitive joke about Bhatt’s pregnancy, the film, and the actors have been facing boycotts for all kinds of reasons. The film also features Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna, and Mouni Roy, among others in pivotal roles. It is a fantasy adventure serving as the first in the Brahmāstra trilogy as part of its own cinematic universe titled Astraverse.
