Starting Tuesday January 16, 2024, Kashi based Vedic scholar and priest Ganeshwar Shastri Dravid will oversee and anchor a team of 121 ‘acharyas’ tasked with performing rituals that will lead up to the main event.

Ceremonies including lighting of the holy fire, ‘navagraha’, ‘havan’, ‘Ram Lalla’ to be given to ‘aushadhadiwas’ and more to be held in Ram mandir ahead of the ‘pran pratishtha’ or consecration day.

Ram Mandir ‘Pran Pratishtha’ Ceremony To Be Held On January 22, 2024:

Preparations are underway in Ayodhya for the majestic Ram Mandir ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony to be held on January 22, 2024; where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be the chief guest.

Events Scheduled In Line Up To The ‘Pran Pratishtha’ Ceremony:

A series of events have been planned ahead of the consecration ceremony to be held on Monday, January 22, 2024. These pre- ‘pran pratishtha’ rituals will start on Tuesday, January 16, 2024 and will continue till Sunday, January 21, 2024.

We now take you through a list of all the rituals and their meanings in detail scheduled day wise between January 16, 2024 and January 21, 2024; before the ‘pran pratishtha’ ceremony.

January 16, 2024

On Tuesday, ‘Prayaschita’ and ‘Karmakuti Poojan’ will be held. The priest will conduct the ‘Dashvidh’ bath ritual on the banks of river Saryu. The rituals will include ‘Vishnu’ worship and ‘Godan’.

January 17, 2024

On Wednesday, the ‘parisar pravesh’ of the idol will be held where the procession with ‘Ram Lalla’s’ idol will visit Ayodhya. Meanwhile, devotees will reach the temple carrying Saryu water in a ‘Mangal Kalash’.

January 18, 2024

On Thursday, ‘Aushadhadhivas’, ‘Kesaradhivas’, and ‘Ghritadhivas’ will be scheduled. A new idol of ‘Ram Lalla’ made by Mysore based Arun Yogiraj will be placed at its ‘aasan’ in ‘garbh griha’ (sanctum sanctorum). The evening will witness ‘Teerth Poojan’, ‘Jal Yatra’ and ‘Gandhadhivas’.

January 19, 2024

During the ‘Dhanyadhivas’, an idol is wiped dry and laid in supine position on top of grains or pulses and this process is repeated where the ‘murti’ is completely covered with more of both to further purify it. A grand ‘havan’ will also be done along with ‘Agni Sthapana’ and ‘Navagraha Sthapana’.

January 20, 2024

On Saturday, January 20, 2024 ‘Sharkaradhivas’ and ‘Phaladhivas’ have been scheduled in the morning; and the evening will witness ‘Pushpadhivas’.

January 21, 2024

On January 21, 2024, the temple will be closed for ‘darshan’. ‘Madhyadhivas’ has been scheduled for Sunday, January 21, 2024. The deity will be washed with 125 urns and ‘Shayadhivas’ ritual will be performed thereafter.
