What Is The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana?
The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) is a housing assistance programme started by the Indian government to provide financial aid and affordable housing to underprivileged, and lower-income families that are in the weaker sections of society. This programme is mainly separated into two components: PMAY-G and PMAY-U.
The PMAY-G section of the programme aims to provide beneficiaries with assistance to build pucca houses with necessities for all the eligible households in rural areas that don’t have a secure shelter. The houses built under PMAY-G are done by using local materials, designs, and trained masons.
The PMAY-U section of the programme is also known as the "Housing for All Mission," which aims to provide assistance for housing to all eligible families in urban areas.
