Today, you see Neha Kakkar, judging the singing reality show, Indian Idol, giving hit Bollywood songs one after the other. However, that's not how her journey began. Neha Kakkar doesn't belong to the industry, she had to make her way, which wasn't really smooth. Neha comes from a simple family. What was her journey like? Let's take you through her journey.

Neha Kakkar was born in Uttarakhand but her family then shifted to Delhi a few years later. Her family wasn't too rich, her father used to sell samosas for a living. She has two siblings - Tony Kakkar and Sonu Kakkar.

Neha started singing at the age of 4. Her siblings, Tony and Sonu Kakkar had a great interest in music and the three dreamt of making it big in the music industry.

Singing At Chowkis

Participating In Indian Idol Season 2

Neha Kakkar then moved to Mumbai with brother Tony Kakkar. At the age of 16, Neha auditioned for Indian Idol 2 but she couldn't make it to the finals. Neha had a lot of hopes but things didn't turn in her favour. Have a look at one of her performances from the Indian Idol show here:

Neha in an interview talked about her journey after Indian Idol, she said, “People appreciated my voice saying that you sing well but nobody ever told me that I am a great singer and I wanted to prove that. So I polished my voice a lot from that time onwards so that people actually appreciate my voice.”

Becoming A Singing Sensation

Neha kept working on her singing and soon gave her big Bollywood hit with the movie Cocktail. Her song Second Hand Jawani was a big hit and soon she gave a lot of hit songs like Dhating Nach, Manali Trance, Aankh Maare, Aao Raj, London Thumakda among others.

Today, it is rare to find a Bollywood movie that doesn't have a track sung by her. Neha Kakkar has a huge fan following today, she is judging the Indian Idol show.

Neha Kakkar is currently hogging the limelight for her rumoured marriage with Indian Idol host Aditya Narayan. In one of the Indian Idol's episodes, Aditya Narayan announced her wedding with Neha on 14th February. The two were recently in Goa for a music project. Pictures from their Goa vacay have been going viral. Talking about their wedding, nothing has been confirmed yet.
