The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has announced the list of national sports award winners for 2023. From Mohammad Shami to Suni Kumar bagged the Arjuna Award, let’s take a look at the list of other notable athletes.

India’s best-performing athletes of 2023 are honoured for their remarkable sports presence by the President of India Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhawan. Several sports personalities are awarded the Arjuna Award which is the second highest athletic honour in India. However, Khel Ratna Award winners Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty weren't present to receive the award due to their international commitment. Check out the list of other athletes here.

Who Is Given The Arjuna Award?

Arjuna Award is given to the athletes for demonstrating leadership, sportsmanship and discipline along with an incredible performance in sports over the preceding four years. This year the Arjuna Award is given to the following athletes:

Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award

Named after hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand, this award (actresses who won national award) is the highest sporting honour in India. This award is given to the sports personnel with spectacular and outstanding performance in the field of sports for over four years. This award comprises a medallion, certificate and a cash prize of Rs 25,00,000. Satwiksairaj Rankireddy (badminton) and Chirag Shetty (badminton) won this award in 2023.

Dhyan Chand Award for Lifetime Achievement is given to Kavitha Selvaraj (kabaddi), Manjusha Kanwar (badminton) and Vineet Kumar Sharma (hockey).
