The trailer of the upcoming Hindi film Double XL starring Huma Qureshi and Sonakshi Sinha was recently released and made headlines for several reasons. One that cricketer Shikhar Dhwana will be appearing in the film and second the lead duo has gained 15-20 kilograms each for the film. In the film, Sinha plays an aspiring fashion designer who aims at launching her own brand, and Qureshi’s character wants to become a sports journalist. The two cross paths at a time of vulnerability due to their weights and the film deals with their struggle and subsequent journey to conquer their dreams. The film is set to release in theatres on November 4, 2022.

Vidya Balan
In the 2011 Hindi biographical drama film The Dirty Picture, Vidya Balan played the role of Silk Smitha, an Indian actress noted for her erotic roles, whose life inspired the film. The film also resembles the personal lives of other women in pop culture including Marilyn Monroe. Balan had gained 12 kilograms for the role and it won her the 59th National Award for Best Actress.
Bhumi Pednekar
Actor Bhumi Pednekar had gained 15 kilograms to play the role of Sandhya in the 2015 Hindi romantic comedy drama film Dum Laga Ke Haisha, also starring Ayushmann Khurana. This was also her debut film. The film narrates the age-old story of an arranged marriage where the couple have no say in choosing their partners. Sandhya is a strong headed, liberal woman, who is aware that society, including her husband, looks at women of her weight and size differently. But she loves herself the way she is.
Aamir Khan
The 2016 biographical sports drama film Dangal starred Aamir Khan as Mahavir Singh Phogat, a pehlwani amateur wrestler, who trains his daughters Geeta Phogat and Babita Kumari to become India's first world-class female wrestlers. For the role, Khan went from 70 kilograms to 97 kilograms in just a few months.
Randeep Hooda
For his role in the 2016 biographical drama film Sarbjit, actor Randeep Hooda lost 18 kilograms in 28 days. Hooda played the lead role of Sarabjit Singh, an Indian man who was sentenced to death by the Supreme Court of Pakistan in 1991 for alleged terrorism and spying and consequently spent 22 years in prison. The film also stars Richa Chadha and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.

Rajkummar Rao
Rajkummar Rao lost seven kilograms for his role in the 2016 survival drama film Trapped. In this film, Rao plays Shaurya, a call centre employee, who gets trapped in his apartment room without food, water, and electricity.
