#BoycottBollywood has become a mainstay on Twitter. It trended for Laal Singh Chaddha, followed by calls for boycott for films like Raksha Bandhan, Dobaaraa and Brahmastra.
Aamir Khan, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor, Taapsee Pannu, Akshay Kumar and other actors and directors have spoken on the issue, but it only ever adds fuel to the fire.
Amid all this boycott rage, Aamir and Kareena starrer Laal Singh Chaddha was also trolled. Despite its ₹66.11 crores worth of domestic earnings, it was declared a flop at the box office. But it has now become the highest-grossing Hindi film of 2022 thanks to its overseas success.

If we consider only overseas earnings, Laal Singh Chaddha has left behind the highest domestic grossing films of this year. #BoycottLaalSinghChaddha
Trolls called for the boycott of Laal Singh Chaddha because of an old comment made by Aamir Khan about India being an intolerable country. Further, Bebo’s comment about trolls and cancel culture gave another ammunition to people calling for the boycotting of the film. She had only said, “Everyone has to learn to ignore certain things.”
The film is an adaptation of the Hollywood classic Forrest Gump. Many applauded Khan for his guts and called the movie a beautiful adaptation. Actors like Hrithik Roshan and Sushmita Sen urged fans to watch the film, however, the former actor faced backlash from the audience as well.

Some have even compared the storylines of Bollywood films with Tollywood movies. Trolls have gone as far as bashing actors for posting their maternity shoots and have called them shameless. Some critics compared Hindi film actresses with Tollywood actresses and found the latter more rooted in their culture for not flaunting their baby bumps.
