Karwa Chauth Vrat Katha 2024
The legend of Karwa Chauth recounts the story of a woman named Karwa, who had seven doting brothers. These brothers held a deep affection for her. One day, while visiting her parents' home, Karwai chose to observe a Nirjala Vrat, a fasting ritual without the consumption of water, in hopes of ensuring her husband's well-being. As the day progressed, Karwa grew increasingly weak due to hunger and thirst, eventually collapsing.
Her brothers, unable to witness her suffering, implored her to break the fast and have a meal. Despite their pleas, Karwa remained resolute, steadfastly fasting until the moonrise. In an attempt to assist her, her brothers devised a plan. They ascended a Pipal tree and, using a sieve and a flame, mimicked the moon's appearance, seeking to deceive Karwa into thinking that the moon had risen, allowing her to break her fast.
Regrettably, unaware of the ruse, Karwa inadvertently ended her fast (how to break karva chauth fast) without actually sighting the moon. Tragically, her husband faced a dire fate and lost his life as a result. Upon receiving this heart-wrenching news, Karva was engulfed in sorrow and inconsolable grief.
