Guru Murthy (45), a former army officer, has admitted to murdering his wife, Venkata Madhavi (35), in Hyderabad in a horrible crime that has shocked the city. Hyderabad Woman's Murder: Timeline of Events
The story began on January 16, 2025, when Venkata Madhavi's family reported her missing. Her husband, Guru Murthy, joined them at the Meerpet Police Station to file a missing person report. However, suspicions emerged when the authorities discovered contradictions in his claims. Murthy allegedly admitted to the crime following further questioning.
Police Inspector Nagaraj stated, "The parents filed a missing complaint with us. The spouse also joined them. We were suspicious and questioned him. He confessed to the crime.”
Murthy's Gruesome Confession
Murthy reportedly told authorities that following an argument with his wife, he killed her by banging her head against a wall, resulting in her immediate death. Murthy is accused of chopping up the body in the bathroom to hide the crime. He then used a pressure cooker to boil the body parts for several hours, while grinding the bones with a mortar and pestle. After several rounds of boiling, he placed the leftovers in bags and disposed of them in various locations, including the nearby Jillelaguda Lake.
Lack of Evidence and Ongoing Investigation
Despite Murthy's full confession, the Rachakonda Police have yet to recover any body parts. G Sudheer Babu, the Commissioner of Rachakonda Police, stated, "We cannot rely on simple accusations. We are collecting technical and scientific evidence. The case is being investigated."
The police have seized a pressure cooker, water heater, and knives from the suspect's residence. However, no forensic evidence has confirmed Murthy's claims.
