Growing Curry Leaves At Home: Process
Get Seeds
Collect fresh seeds as they are more likely to germinate. You can gather them from mature curry plants buy them from reliable online stores or collect them from a local garden.
Select A Pot
You must use a pot with 6-8 inches wide and deep drainage holes at the bottom to ensure the water has passageways to pass through.
Prepare The Soil
You can grow your curry leaves in soil or potting mix with well-draining. Make a mixture of your preferred options with some compost (Homemade Compost).
Planting Curry Leaves
Sow The Seeds
Make one or multiple holes about half inches deep in the soil or potting mix where you want your plant to grow. Gather the seed over the hole and gently pat it.
Irrigate The Plant
Water your soil lightly and ensure not to overwhelm it.
Placing The Pot
It is essential to place your pot in the right spot to ensure that it is exposed to the right amount of sunlight or breeze. Some plants need 6-8 hours of direct sunlight while some need indirect and others can only be kept indoors. Curry leaves take about fifteen days to germinate in moist soil. Ensure that it is not soggy.
Thinning
After the growth of a few leaves, chop out the weak ones keeping only the strong leaves. This helps the plant to gain strength.
Watering
Water you plant daily. However, wait for the soil to desiccate to avoid overwhelming it. Water even less during winter.
