It has been six years since we saw Rhaenyra Targaryen and Daemon Targaryen getting married. In this last major time leap, Lord Corlys is dead, and Princess Rhaenys has taken over the control of Driftmark and Driftwood's throne. His brother, Vaemond, however, still has a question of who would ascend the throne.
Baela told him that Rhaenys was ‘comfortable’ ruling the kingdom. On the other, hand, he counter-attacked them both with the fact that when a king dies the throne is passed to an heir, which was Lucerys Velaryon (Rheanyra’s second son), according to Corlys’ last wish and hierarchy. However, Vaemond is not happy with it either and said, “I am the Sea Snake’s own blood. The closest kin he has left”
Alicent Hightower Sits In The Chair Of King Viserys I

During the council, Alicent Hightower was seen sitting in the chair of King Viserys I and handling the matter of the council. The council was discussing if Lucerys should be declared the king of the driftwood because he was not formally declared as the heir to the throne by Corlys.
As Rhaenyra and Daemon arrive at the palace of King’s Landing, they were taken to Viserys’ chamber, where he was resting. His condition has worsened since we last saw him settling the dispute between Aemond and Lucerys. He has lost half of his face.
Rhaenyra introduced Viserys to her and Daemon’s children - Aegon and Viserys. On the other side of the palace, Alicent is not happy to hear that Rheanyra had directly gone to see her father.

When the Queen dismissed the council, she was made of the trouble Aegon had landed into. She asked the palace help, Dyana, to tell her what had happened. She described that despite saying ‘No’ several times, Aegon did not stop. Alicent pacified her and told her it was not her fault at all.
However, she also threatened her not to tell about the Prince to anyone. The Queen gave her enough coins to keep her mouth shut and got her to drink the tea to avoid the consequences of rape.
Alicent slapped Aegon and asked him how could he do something like that the day Rhaenyra arrived at the castle. She reprimanded him for cheating on his wife, Heleana, Alicent’s only daughter and Aegon’s only sister.

Rhaenyra Offered Her Son's Marriage To Laena’s Daughters

In the backyard of the palace, Rheaenyra presents an offer to Rheanys if she agreed to make Lucerys the King of Driftmark. She offered her sons to be married to Laena’s daughters.
She said Baela would be the Queen of seven kingdoms in future. However, Rheanys told her that she could bargain with her all she wanted, but the Hightowers were going to bring their first blow the next day.
Rhaenyra went to Viserys and cried that she thought she wanted to rule the seven realms. He also named her the heir in the spirit to unite all seven kingdoms. However, she pointed out that since she became the heir to the throne, the news has only divided everyone.
Otto Hightower Declared Himself The Voice Of King Viserys

In the hall of the palace, Otto Hightower declared himself the voice of King Viserys as he was his Hand. From this point forward, he would speak and take decisions on his behalf.
He was ready to hear the petition for who would rule Draftmark and ascend the throne of Driftwood. Vaemond presented himself as the rightful heir to ascend as the King.

When Rhaenyra was given the chance to speak, King Viserys I entered the hall. He told Otto that he would sit on the throne to hear the petition regarding the matter. Daemon, at last, helped him sit on the throne and put the crown on his head.
He said he was confused why the petitions by Rhaenyra and Vaemond were being heard when Rheanys was present. He asked the Princess to speak up about the wishes of Lord Corlys. She said Corlys wanted Lucerys to ascend the throne, and neither his wish ever changed nor her support.
She also told the King that Rhaenyra had presented an offer to marry bother her sons to Laena’s daughters, and she had agreed to the proposal. King Viserys I declared Lucerys as the rightful heir to the throne of Driftmark and Driftwood.
Lord Vaemond opposed the King and pledged to fight it. He called Rhaenyra’s kids bastards and called Rhaenyra a whore. King took out his sword to cut Vaemond’s tongue, meanwhile, Daemon Targaryen had already beheaded him.

King Viserys I Gives His Last Speech

During the grand supper, King Viserys I gave a powerful speech. He said he was glad and sad to see all the faces he had loved the most. He wanted everyone to keep their differences aside, if not for the throne, then for him, as they might soon stop seeing him.
Rhaenyra raised a toast for Alicent and thanked her for standing by her father’s side. In return, the Queen raised her cup for her former friend now turned into an enemy.
After King left the gathering, Aemond raise his glass to the health of Rheanyra’s sons - Jacerys, Lucerys and Joffery - all born to Ser Harwin. The kids get into a fight, and Rhaenyra told Alicent her family would take leave for Dragonstone.

In King’s chambers, he was seen struggling to speak. He said something to Alicent about Aegon and the song of Ice & Fire, which she seemed to have interpreted as the King's wish to see his son, Aegon, ascending the throne. In the last scene, the King was shown breathing his last. His last words were, “No more, My love.”
