Gauri Khan’s Birthday: From Entrepreneur To Netflix, Take A Look At Her Inspiring Career

Gauri Khan, the interior designer, producer, and wife of actor Shah Rukh Khan, is turning 52 on October 09, 2022. She recently won the audience’s hearts all over again with her appearance on Koffee With Karan Season 7 along with the other The Fabulous Live of Bollywood Wives cast.

Born to a Punjabi Hindu family in Delhi, Gauri did her schooling at the Loreto Convent School and later graduated from Lady Shri Ram College with an honours degree in History. She later did a six-month course in fashion designing from the National Institute of Fashion Technology and learnt tailoring from her father's garment business.

It was in 1984 that Gauri first met Khan in Delhi before Khan began his career in the Hindi film industry. After six years of courtship, the couple tied the knot in October 1991 in a traditional Hindu wedding. The couple has three children together- Aryan, Suhana and Abram.

Her professional career began with establishing the production house Dreamz Unlimited with Khan in 1999 which was transformed into Red Chillies Entertainment in 2002. Gauri serves as the co-chairperson and the main producer of all the films produced under the banner starting from Main Hoon Na, Om Shanti Om, Paheli, My Name Is Khan, to Badla, Student of the Year, Darlings.

Gauri expressed her interest in interior designing for the first time when she began renovating her Bandra bungalow, Mannat, which is a heritage building and is deemed important to the cityscape exempting it from demolition. In 2010, she professionally ventured into interior designing in partnership with Sussane Khan. A few years later, in 2014, Gauri launched her first concept store called The Design Cell located in Worli, Mumbai which showcases furniture designed by her as well as other Indian designers. In 2016, she also designed a fashion collection titled 'Cocktails and Dreams' for popular designer Satya Paul. A year later, she launched her design studio Gauri Khan Designs in Juhu, Mumbai.

Some of the Bollywood celebrity homes designed by Gauri include Karan Johar’s terrace, Siddharth Malhotra’s bachelor pad, Varun Dhawan and Natasha Dalal’s house, Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt’s home in Pali Hill, Jacqueline Fernandes’ house, the nursery of Karan’s kids, among others.

Gauri was awarded the Excellence in Design Award at the Hello! Hall of Fame Awards in 2018 for her work in the field of interior designing.

While Gauri has been associated with the film industry as a producer and behind the camera, she recently made an appearance on screen with the second season of the Netflix series The Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives. It is an Indian reality television series that focuses on the personal and professional lives of Neelam (jewellery designer and wife of actor Samir Soni), Maheep (jewellery designer and wife of actor-producer Sanjay Kapoor), Seema (fashion designer and stylist and ex-wife of actor-filmmaker Sohail Khan), and Bhavana (entrepreneur and wife of actor Chunkey Pandey).

Sharing a trailer video, she also recently announced her upcoming show Dream Homes with Gauri Khan that will stream on Mirchi Plus App and its YouTube channel.
