Sushant Digvikr Becomes First Indian Queen To Perform Drag At RuPaul's Drag Con

Sushant Digvikr aka Rani KoHEnur, the Indian model, actor, and drag queen who rose to popularity with their appearance in Bigg Boss 8, has become the first and only Indian to perform drag at RuPaul’s Drag Race in the United Kingdom. Digvikr took to social media on Thursday, October 06, 2022, to share the news.

“Excited that I am a GIF but also that I will become the first and the only queen FROM India to represent our rich cultural heritage through performance drag at @rupaulsdragcon UK in Jan 2023,” wrote Divgikr on a GIF featuring them and shared on their Instagram story.

RuPaul’s Drag Race is an American reality competition television series hosted, mentored, and judged by American drag queen, television judge, musician, and model, RuPaul Andre Charles. RuPaul has received several awards including 12 Primetime Emmy Awards, three GLAAD Media Awards, a Critics' Choice Television Award, two Billboard Music Awards, and a Tony Award throughout his career. Spanning over 14 seasons with four consecutive Primetime Emmy Awards, a GLAAD Award, and four nominations for the Critics’ Choice Television Award, RuPaul’s Drag Race documents RuPaul’s search for "America's next drag superstar". Other judges and panelists include Michelle Visage, an alternating third main judge of either Carson Kressley or Ross Mathews, and a host of other guest judges, who critique contestants' progress throughout the competition.

Digvikr, who won the title of Mr Gay India 2014, has also been the only delegate from India to win three sub-awards and is also the first Indian and the first delegate from any country to have won a record three individual sub-titles and two group sub-titles at the Mr Gay World 2014. They also created history by becoming the first Indian drag queen to participate in a singing reality show and win the golden buzzer. This also made them the first contestant from the LGBTQIA+ community to win a golden buzzer and directly enter the top 15 of the reality competition show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa in 2018.

Recently, in June this year, Divgikr made their debut appearance on the Times Square Billboard in New York. They shared a video on Instagram where they stood and danced in front of the billboard as they were announced the co-host of the reality show House of Pride by Revry, a streaming platform that focuses on queer content and creators in association with McDonald’s.
