SS Rajamouli, one of the highest-paid filmmakers who predominantly makes films in the Tamil and Telugu film industries, has been making headlines with his back-to-back pan-India releases making massive hits worldwide.

Rajamouli’s latest release RRR (2022) has been submitted in 14 categories for the For Your Consideration campaign in all major categories for the upcoming Academy Awards. The campaign was launched on September 30, 2022, with a massive screening at the Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles. He also posted a picture with filmmaker J J Abrams from the Governors Awards, an annual ceremony hosted by the Academy of Motion Arts and Picture Sciences, which was held on Sunday in Los Angeles.

Baahubali: The Beginning

With an ensemble cast including Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty, Tamannaah, Ramya Krishna, Sathyaraj, and Nassar, Baahubali: The Beginning became the third highest-grossing South Indian films. Rajamouli became popular across the country with this film that collected estimated ₹600–650 crore. The film is a must-watch for its contemporary take on the epic Mahabharata, the performances of the actors and the character arc of Devasena.

Baahubali: The Conclusion

The 2017 magnum opus film Baahubali: The Conclusion, starring Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty, Tamannaah, Ramya Krishna, Sathyaraj, Nassar, and Subbaraju is yet another S S Rajamouli directorial. While the prequel, Baahubali: The Beginning, had references to the epic Mahabharata, the sequel drew inspiration from Ramayana when Baahubali (Prabhas) and Devasena (Shetty) went in to exile as they were banished from the Royal Palace. The film collected an estimated ₹1,810 crore.

Magadheera

Set in ancient times, the 2009 Telugu fantasy action film Magdheera is themed on reincarnation and eternal love. The film follows a warrior who is killed while trying to save a princess and her kingdom. Later, after reincarnating after 400 years, he sets himself in a fight in order to avenge the death of the princess and himself. Made in a budget of ₹35–44 crore, the film went on to collect ₹150 crore approximately at the box office.

RRR stars Ram Charan, Jr NTR, and Alia Bhatt in the lead along with Ajay Devgn in a pivotal role. The film was one of the biggest box office hits of this year after collecting an estimated ₹1,150–1,200 crores. Set in 1920, the film revolves around two real-life Indian revolutionaries, Alluri Sitarama Raju (Charan) and Komaram Bheem (Rama Rao), and their fight against the British Raj. It also explores the undocumented period in their lives when both the revolutionaries chose to go into obscurity before they began the fight for their country.

Chatrapathi

The 2005 Telugu action drama film Chatrapathi is another Prabhas and Rajamouli collaboration. The film focuses on the protagonist who is a displaced Sri Lankan refugee living in a Vizag port which is ruled and oppressed by a local rowdy. The film unfolds as he tries to fight back against oppression and reunite with his long-lost family.
