SS Rajamouli Poses With Star Wars Director JJ Abrams At Governors Awards

The Governors Awards, which is an annual ceremony hosted by the Academy of Motion Arts and Picture Sciences, was held on Sunday in Los Angeles. Various celebrities, including Indian filmmaker SS Rajamouli and filmmaker JJ Abrams attended the event. A picture of their meeting is being widely circulated on social media.

The picture was shared by the Twitter handle of RRR Movie. Sharing their picture, they mentioned that Abrams is a huge fan of SS Rajamouli-directed RRR. The caption read, "And the foRRRce continues to be with #RRRMovie 🔥🌊🤩 Hollywood filmmaker

Governors Awards

The Governors Awards is an annual event that celebrates the awards conferred by the Academy's Board of Governors – the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award, the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award and the Honorary Award. Each summer, winners are announced, and they are honoured at a dinner gala in November.

SS Rajamouli’s RRR

S.S. Rajamouli's directed film RRR was released on March 22, 2022, across India. It is a period epic about two legendary revolutionaries and their journey away from home before they began fighting for their nation in the 1920s.

The film starred N.T. Rama Rao, Jr.Ram Charan Teja, and Ajay Devgn are in prominent roles.

With over ₹1000 crore in gross receipts, it became one of the highest-grossing Indian movies ever while having a production expenditure of around ₹300 crores.

The film received the prestigious Saturn Award 2022 in the Best International Film category in October 2022. The film also received a nomination for Best Action/Adventure Film, while Rajamouli received a nomination for Best Film Direction.

Rajamouli is also campaigning to get RRR nominated. The campaign was officially launched with a lavish screening at Los Angeles’ Chinese Theatre. They have submitted the film in the following categories: Best Picture, Best Director (Rajamouli), Best Actor (Jr NTR and Ram Charan), Screenplay, Original Song, Score, Editing, Cinematography, Sound, Production Design, and VFX to name a few. Alia Bhatt has been submitted for the Best Supporting Actress category, while Ajay Devgn for the Best Supporting Actor category. “Naatu Naatu” has been submitted in the Best Original Song category.

A PR team hired for the same is purportedly working on a huge campaign across the US. A regular Oscar campaign can cost anywhere from (approx) $6 million to $10 million and reportedly Rajamouli is bearing the cost himself.

On the work front, Rajamouli will soon be collaborating with Mahesh Babu for an upcoming film SSMB 29.
