Fabric fresheners are products that consumers use to eliminate unpleasant odours from their clothes, upholstery, or any other fabric. These products also add a pleasant scent to the fabric.

To create your own fabric freshener, you'll need just a few basic ingredients:

  • Spray bottle
  • Bicarbonate of soda or baking soda
  • Essential oils
  • Funnel
  1. Begin by placing the funnel into the spray bottle to prevent spills and mess. Then, add 1 tablespoon of bicarbonate of soda to the bottle. Bicarbonate of soda is renowned for its natural deodorising properties, making it an ideal base for your fabric freshener.
  2. Next, add around 10 drops of your favourite essential oil(s) to the bottle. The choice of essential oils is entirely up to you, depending on your personal preference and the desired fragrance.
  3. Once the bicarbonate of soda and essential oils are added, top up the spray bottle to about 3/4 full with boiling water that has cooled slightly. This hot water helps to dissolve the bicarbonate of soda and infuse the essential oils, ensuring an even distribution of fragrance.
  4. Secure the lid tightly on the bottle and give it a good shake to mix all the ingredients thoroughly.

Your homemade fabric freshener is now ready to use!
