Procedure

  • If you want to make matching curtains for the door and the windows take two different sarees that have the same fabric.
  • Start by measuring the length and the breath of the door and the window. Generally, you will be able to make six equal pieces out of two sarees.
  • With the help of the coloured-chalk mark on the equal measurements after leaving four-finger space for folding and sewing each piece of cloth. Cut the cloth from the marked areas. Leaving or cutting the pallu area of the saree totally depends on your wish.
  • Make two separate pairs, with each pair consisting of three separate cloth pieces respectively. Follow the same process to cut the lining equally. You can also use another old cotton saree for making the lining.
lining
  • Prepare your sewing machine by inserting bobbin and filling white colour thread. The external thread must be of the matching colour as your curtain.
  • Place the lining along with saree curtains. To make the loop of the curtain fold the fabric. Measurement should be around four to five inches. Also, fold one more inch to avoid fabric’s thread from loosening. Now stitch horizontally.
  • Follow the same procedure for all the other five pieces. Once done fold it and iron altogether. This will make them look perfect and new. Lastly, put them on the rods. Use two similar and one odd colour curtain for making one pair.
