Delhi Mahila Samman Yojana: Eligibility, How To Apply, And More

The Delhi government has been implementing several welfare schemes to uplift women and ensure their socio-economic empowerment. Before the Delhi Assembly elections, former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal launched the Mahila Samman Yojana, a scheme offering Delhi women Rs 1000 every month. He promised that if the AAP wins the 2025 elections, the amount will be increased to Rs 2100 per month.

Arvind Kejriwal shared that the benefits of the scheme won't be available right away, but will start once the AAP forms the government. Here's a detailed look at the eligibility criteria, the application process, and other important aspects of the scheme.        

Delhi Mahila Samman Yojana

The Delhi government introduced the Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana in the 2024 budget, with a funding of ₹2,000 crore. The Delhi Assembly elections, which have 70 seats, are expected to be held in February 2025, though the official dates haven't been announced yet. The current assembly's term ends on February 23, 2025. This announcement comes as the Aam Aadmi Party aims to win a third term in power.

Earlier, the AAP government also revealed the Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana, with ₹2,000 crore allocated in the 2024-25 budget.

Arvind Kejriwal stated in a press release on December 12, 2024 that, “I  had promised ₹1000 per month for women of Delhi. And I am happy to announce that CM Atishi’s cabinet has approved this scheme today. Now women can register and avail this scheme.”

He also mentioned that the amount is expected to rise to ₹2,100 if AAP wins the next elections.

• The woman must be a permanent resident of Delhi and a registered voter in Delhi.
• The woman's annual income should not exceed Rs 3 lakh.
• The woman should be between 18 and 60 years of age, but it comes with specific eligibility criteria.
• Women owning a four-wheeler are not eligible for the scheme.
• The scheme will also exclude any woman who is a tax-payer or a government employee.

Step 1: Visit the official Delhi government website and download the application form.  

Step 2: Complete the form with all the necessary documents, then submit everything at your nearest office.

Step 4: Authorities will verify the details and information you provided on the form.  

Step 5: If your application is accepted, you will be informed and eligible to receive financial help from the scheme.
