Christmas celebrated annually on December 25 commemorates the birth of Jesus Christ and holds great significance across the country, especially in the Goa and Northeastern region of India. In the observance of Christmas, banks across the country will remain shut for five days. However, some states will have partial operations on certain days.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has issued an official statement regarding the holidays. Individuals are advised to stay updated to avoid last-minute inconvenience.

  • December 24 (Tuesday): Banks will remain closed in Kohima, Aizawl on Christmas Eve.
  • December 25 (Wednesday): Banks will be shut in all states due to the Christmas National Holiday.
  • December 26 (Thursday): Banks will remain closed in some states.
  • December 27 (Friday): Banks will remain closed in some states.
  • December 28 (Saturday): Fourth Saturday
  • December 29 (Sunday): Weekly Holiday
