With most of the upcoming Bollywood films trending on Twitter with the #Boycott, the boycott trend has become the norm on the social networking giant in the past few years, especially for Bollywood films. Since the announcement of the Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor starrer Laal Singh Chaddha took place, the top trend on Twitter almost every day has been #BoycottLaalSinghCahddha and it continues even after its release.

Not limited to just one film, earlier this week, Twitter saw several boycott hashtags trending about Bollywood films such as the upcoming film starring Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan, which is a remake of Vijay Sethupathi starrer Vikram Vedha; the upcoming Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor starrer Brahmastra also trended for the wrong reasons.

After the silence of the film fraternity, recently, Taapsee Pannu, Anurag Kashyap, and Arjun Kapoor spoke on it and made it to the headlines.

“I think we made a mistake by being silent about it and that was our decency but people have started taking advantage of that. I think we made a mistake by thinking that ‘our work will speak for ourselves’. You know you don't always need to get your hand dirty but I guess we tolerated it a lot and now people have made this a habit. We need to come together and do something about it because what people write about us or the hashtags that trend, are far away from reality. When we do films that do good at the box office, then at that time people like us not because of our surnames but because of the film,” he said.

The actor-director duo was promoting their upcoming film Dobaara when the duo had a heated up conversation with the media regarding the same. In a tone of mockery, the duo requested the audience to trend ‘boycott’ their upcoming film and against them as well. “Picture dekho na dekho magar boycott kar do (It doesn’t matter if you watch our film but please boycott us),” the duo said.

While Kashyap said, “I want #BoycottKashyap to trend on Twitter,”, the actor added, “Please everyone boycott our film Dobaaraa. Agar Aamir Khan aur Akshay Kumar boycott ho sakte hain (If actors like Aamir Khan and Akshay Kumar are getting boycotted) then I also want to be in that league. What is this?"
