Arjun Rampal & Mehr Jesia Are Officially Divorced; Ends 21 Years Of Marital Bliss

After enjoying 21 years of marital bliss, Arjun Rampal and Mehr Jessia are officially divorced as a family court in Bandra granted them divorce.The word on the street is that the couple was facing troubles for a few years, and even announced their separation in May this year.

As per a report by Mumbai Mirror, principal judge Shailaja Sawant granted the couple divorce under the Special Marriage Act, and the custody of their two daughters Mahikaa and Myra is given to Mehr. “After a petition for divorce by mutual consent is filed, their plea is scrutinised, registered and then, the couple is referred to a marriage counsellor to attempt a reconciliation. If that fails, the couple is given six more months to work things out. Six months later, if they are resolute in their decision to part ways and have complied with the terms of divorce mutually agreed to between them, a court draws up a decree of divorce,” it quoted a court official as saying.

When asked about the finalising of divorce, Arjun told the news daily, "Why would I want to talk about it? Why is it anyone’s business? I don’t want to talk about it."

As per rumours, the breakdown of their marriage started when they had a fall out with close friends Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan during the making of Ra.One. Arjun sent feelers to SRK and expressed his desire to be a part of the movie. “But Mehr allegedly insisted on a higher remuneration for her husband from coproducer SRK himself, who swore to never work with Arjun in the future. The two subsequently had a public falling out during the film’s release. After that, Shah Rukh stopped taking Mehr’s calls. His wife, Gauri Khan, who had been close friends with Mehr, severed ties with her as well, ” a source told the media house.

Soon, celebs started avoiding the couple and Arjun started spending time with Sussanne. The source revealed, “When his equations with many industry friends were worsening, his friendship with Sussanne only strengthened over time and Mehr grew extremely insecure. It led to several fights between the couple.” Due to these fights, the couple started parting away and decided to go their separate ways.

Earlier this year, the couplehad announced their separation in a joint statement. "After a 20 year long beautiful journey filled with love and beautiful memories, we would like to share, that all journeys have different paths and we feel that it is time for us to move on to different destinations henceforth,” they had said in their statement.

After parting ways with Mehr, Arjun Rampal is currently dating South African model Gabriella Demetriades and they welcomed their son Arik earlier this year.
