Barbara Butch is a prominent French DJ and LGBTQ activist who was slammed on social media for mocking Jesus Christ during the Paris Olympicsopening ceremony on Friday. She calls herself a ‘love activist’ and has made significant contributions to promoting inclusivity, diversity and body positivity. She shared a snap from the Paris Olympics performance on her Instagram and wrote, “Hi my name is Barbara Butch, I'm a Love activist, Dj and producer based in Paris. My aim is to unite people, gather humans & share love through music for all of Us to dance & make our hearts beat in unison! Music sounds better with all of Us!”

She began her career by playing at bars and parties in Montpellier, France and then later moved to Paris (things to do in paris for free). She rose to fame for her performances at venues like Rosa Bonheur and the Machine du Moulin Rouge. Apart from being a DJ, she is also a lesbian activist and is quite outspoken about her body shaming. She made significant contributions to the queer community which earned her several recognitions including the Out d'or 2021 award for 'LGBTI personality of the year' from the French Association of LGBTI Journalists.
