Ayusmann Khurana, the National award-winning Hindi actor, debuted in the industry a decade ago in 2012 and has made his own place in the hearts of the audience. The multi-talented actor, who started his career as a video jockey at MTV, has given one after the other box office hits with some memorable unconventional roles.

Besides video jockeying and anchoring, the actor is also a singer and has also won several awards in the category. Khurana, who appeared in Forbes India’s Celebrity 100 list of 2013 and 2019 and was also named in the Time’s 100 most influential people in the world, turns 38 years today. Vicky Donor

Khurana debuted in the Hindi film industry with the 2012 Hindi film Vicky Donor directed by Soojit Sircar. Set against the backdrop of sperm donation and infertility, Khurana plays an unemployed Punjabi vagabond boy who turns into a sperm donor. The film won the National Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment at the 60th National Film Awards.

Badhaai Ho

The 2018 Hindi comedy drama film Badhaai Ho starring Khurana, Neena Gupta, Gajraj Rao, and Sanya Malhotra won four National awards including Best Actress (Critics) for Gupta, Best Supporting Actress for Srekha Sikri, and Best Supporting Actor for Rao. This film also marked Khurana’s second film to win a National award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment. The film became one of the highest-grossing films at the box office that year. The film narrates the story of a middle-aged couple who gets pregnant, much disappointment to their sons played by Khurana and Shardul Rana.

Andhadhun

Khurana bagged the National award for Best Actor in a lead role for his 2018 Hindi black comedy crime thriller film Andhadhun. The film also starred Radhika Apte and Tabu. Inspired by the 2010 French short film L'Accordeur (The Piano Tuner), the Hindi film revolves around a blind piano player (Khurana) who unwittingly embroils himself in a murder of a retired actor.

Article 15

Directed by Anubhav Sinha, the Khurana starrer 2019 Hindi crime drama film Article 15 was one of the most critically acclaimed films of the year. Khurana plays the Additional Superintendent of Police Ayan Ranjan IPS in the film which is inspired by multiple real-life cases involving caste-based crimes including the 2014 Badaun gang rape case and the 2016 Ina flogging case.

Dum Laga Ke Haisha

The 2015 Hindi romantic comedy drama film Dum Laga Ke Haisha is another Khurana starrer to win the National award for best Feature Film in Hindi. The film narrates the story of a regular arranged marriage of a young video cassette shop owner Prem (Khurana) and Sandhya, who struggles with issues related to her overweight, played by Bhumi Pednekar.
