Arunima Thakur Tops CLAT 2025 PG Exam
Arunima Thakur from Rourkela, Odisha, has secured the top rank (AIR-1) in the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2025 PG examination, the results of which were announced recently. With an exceptional percentile score of 99.993, Arunima emerged as the highest scorer in India among more than 50,000 candidates who appeared for the exam. Her achievement has brought immense pride to Odisha, but it was the result of her unwavering dedication and rigorous preparation.
A true inspiration from the Steel City, Arunima's academic journey reflects her brilliance and determination. She completed her schooling at Ispat English Medium School, Sector-22, and Delhi Public School, Sector-14, Rourkela, consistently excelling in her studies. According to The Times of India, Arunima had also achieved the highest marks in the Steel City for both Class X and XII, scoring an impressive 98.8% and 98.2%, respectively.
Beyond her academic excellence, Arunima Thakur has also earned acclaim for her exceptional oratory skills. She consistently won the prestigious Steel City Best Orator Award every year up to Class XII and was honoured with a Gold Medal in the Chancellor Debate Competition, further showcasing her multifaceted talent.
Currently, Arunima is in her final year of a five-year Integrated Law programme at the University College of Law, Utkal University, Bhubaneswar. Her recent success in the CLAT 2025 PG exam has brought immense pride to her family, her hometown of Rourkela, and the state of Odisha. Looking ahead, Arunima aspires to become an IAS officer, aiming to serve the nation with the same determination that has defined her journey so far.
Preparation Tips From Arunima Thakur
In an interview with Odisha TV, Arunima Thakur shared insights into her preparation strategy for the CLAT 2025 PG examination. Over the past year, she dedicated hours to reading additional books outside the prescribed syllabus, honing her legal knowledge and aptitude skills.
“I focused especially on developing my reading skills by reading newspapers and judgements throughout the year. This preparation paid off, as I could easily read and comprehend the lengthy question paper,” Arunima explained.

She also highlighted that CLAT question papers are lengthy, often featuring 24 passages spread across 44 pages. According to Arunima, strong reading and analytical skills are crucial for navigating such a paper efficiently within the two-hour time limit. Her methodical approach underscores the importance of consistent practice and skill development for exam success.
