5G In India: PM Modi To launch 5G In 13 Cities

Prime Minister Narendra Modi just launched high-speed 5G internet services in India today. This step marks the beginning of the next-generation network in the country. However, these 5G services will not be available in the whole country just at once.

5G Services In 13 Cities

These services will roll out in phases, thus many new cities seeing access to 5G services. At first, 13 cities in India will get the services including Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Gandhinagar, Gurugram, Hyderabad, Jamnagar, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai and Pune.

However, telecom providers such as Airtel, Jio and Vodafone will slowly roll out the 5G services. This means even if you reside in one of the mentioned 13 cities, you still might not be able to use the services right away and it might still take some while for you to get these services in the device present in your hand.

Key cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata and Chennai are expected to be the very first regions to get 5G access, as also confirmed by Reliance Jio, which is set to launch its 5G plans in these cities by Diwali this year.

After these 13 cities, other cities, towns and villages will soon receive the services in a span of two to three years. Soon, the 5G network will be in the whole nation.

What Is 5G?

5G is a newer generation of data speeds that makes your downloads faster as well as paves a path for a number of new use-cases from cloud gaming to autonomous vehicles.
