Born and raised in Delhi, actress Swara Bhaskermade her film debut with a supporting role in the 2009 drama Madholal Keep Walking, which may not have done well but after that the projects she did are commendable. Her role has never been that of a weak woman but always a female who never backs down. A JNU pass out, Swara has had an incredible 10-year journey so far. Tanu Weds Manu
This Aanand L. Rai directorial was super impressive and won many accolades from critics and the audience likewise. The film had some amazing actors in it includingKangana Ranaut, R.Madhavan and Jimmy Sheirgill in the lead roles. Her role was that of Kangana's best friend and her role did not go unnoticed for sure. This movie is what we can say is responsible for giving her career that push. Written by Himanshu Sharma, the film was released on 25 February 2011. A commercially successful movie, it was also dubbed in German and released under the title Tanu Und Manu Trauen Sich. The film was remade in Telugu as Mr. Pellikoduku. A sequel titled Tanu Weds Manu: Returns was released on May 22, 2015.
Raanjhanaa
After Tanu Weds Manu, Swara starred in another film by the Aanand L. Rai and Himanshu Sharma duo. It had South Indian star Dhanush in the lead, which was also his Bollywood debut alongside Sonam Kapoor and Abhay Deol. In the film, Swara played the role of Dhanush's friend's sister who is head over heels for him since childhood. Her role might be supporting but her acting did not go waste.
Her work was admired by many. After the success of the film, when she was interviewed by the media, she said: "The audience has loved her character so much that she has already got a lot of marriage proposals from fans. I have already got 8-10 marriage proposals. A lot of people have left me messages on Facebook and have written 'Kundan was mad, marry us and we are serious. Some even said that we are not mad and not stalkers, we will take care of you. So anything else happens or not, I will definitely get settled in my personal life.
Released in 2013, the film was dubbed in Tamil, titled "Ambikapathy". The background score and songs were composed by A. R. Rahman. The Hindi lyrics of the tracks were penned by Irshad Kamil, whereas the Tamil lyrics were written by Vairamuthu. Within a week of release, the film was declared a hit by Box Office India.
Nil Battey Sannata
Released internationally as The New Classmate, this film released in 2015. Directed by Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, Swara Bhaskar starred as Chanda Sahay, a high-school drop-out household maid and single mother of a young girl named Apeksha, played by Ria Shukla. The film's theme is a person's right to dream and change their lives, irrespective of social status. The film was critically acclaimed, admired for the subject and Swara's work was commendable in the film.

Anaarkali Of Aarah
This film was directed by debutant Avinash Das, which released in 2017. It had Swara play the lead role of a small-town erotic folk dancer in Arrah in Bihar. The movie revolves around her confrontation with a vice chancellor played by Sanjay Mishra. A different subject altogether, the project won both Das and Swara Bhasker accolades. The plot of the film lies when during one of her stage shows, Anaarkali comes across Vice Chancellor Dharmender Chauhan who tries to molest her. This leads to a conflict between the two where Dharmender holding a position of power has an upper hand but Anaarkali refuses to give in to the challenges thrown in her life and instead decides to fight back.
Veere Di Wedding
this one was an out and out female buddy comedy film, directed by Shashanka Ghosh and co-produced by Rhea Kapoor, Ekta Kapoor and Nikhil Dwivedi. It sure had a vibrant star cast which included Kareena Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor, Swara Bhaskar and Shikha Talsania in lead roles, as four friends attending a wedding. The film which released in 2018, received mixed reviews from critics, with praise towards the chemistry and performances of the cast.
The film had a major controversial scene wherein Swara is shown masturbating (suggestive). She faced severe backlash for it but she told media that she had 'expected to be trolled'. She said: "There is an inherent shock value to the scene. There are people in our society who slut shame. I am quite open about things, give my opinion on political issues, so people will not leave any opportunity to attack me but the film is much more than the masturbation scene."

Swara added that she had shot the scene on one condition that it shouldn't look vulgar on screen. "I trusted the writers and their intention. I only wanted the scene to look comic and not vulgar. I told Shashanka Ghosh (director) 'let's go over the top as it will shock people into laughter'."
