We all must have visited a Gurudwara and had langar. Everyone’s favourite item from langar has to be their staple langar dal which is extremely delicious. If you are missing langar dal during this lockdown and want to have it at home, then don’t worry as we are here with an easy recipe of langar dal.

The simple recipe is made without any fancy ingredients. You just need to mix black lentils and gram dal and cook it like any other dal. However, you the result will not be like any other dal instead it will be exceptionally tasty.

Ingredients

  • Salt
  • 1/2 Cup Black Lentils (Soaked)
  • 1/4 Cup Gram Dal (Soaked)
  • 3 Cups Water
  • 1/2 Tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 1/4 Tsp Red Chilli Powder
  • 1 Tsp Ginger (Chopped)
  • 2 Green Chillies (Chopped)
  • 2 Black Cardamom
  • 1 Bay Leaf
  • 1 Tbsp. Ghee
  • 2 Cinnamon Sticks
  • 1 Tsp Cumin Seeds
  • 2 Onion (Chopped)
  • 1 Tsp Ginger Garlic Paste
  • 2 Tomatoes (Chopped)
  • 1/4 Tsp Red Chilli Powder
  • Coriander Leaves
  • 1/2 Tsp Garam Masala
  • 1 Cup Milk

Step

  1. Step 1:

    Soak both the dals overnight.

  2. Step 2:

    Now take a pressure cooker and add both dals, water, salt, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, ginger and green chillies. Mix it well.

  3. Step 3:

    Add cardamoms and bay leaves. Cook till two whistles. Switch off the gas.

  4. Step 4:

    Now take a pan and add ghee, cinnamon sticks, cumin powder and onions. Mix well. Add salt and ginger garlic paste. Saute it.

  5. Step 5:

    Add tomatoes, salt and chilli powder. Mix it well till it cooks and add coriander leaves. Now, the tadka is ready.

  6. Step 6:

    Now, pour the cooked dal into the tadka and mix well. Add some hot water if you don’t want it to be thick.

  7. Step 7:

    Add garam masala and milk. Mix it for some time.

  8. Step 8:

    Langar dal is now ready to be served.
