Mention the name choco chip cookie and our faces light up like anything. Now, imagine the smile on your kids’ faces if you suddenly decide to surprise them with this amazing snack. The crunchy, chocolaty cookie, when dipped in hot milk, can be a very healthy treat for your kids. But making cookies at home can seem like a tough task and we usually end up buying them from outside which may not be healthy for your kid since such choco chip cookies mostly use refined flour or maida. They also contain preservatives and lots of fats and you don’t want to feed that to your child now. Do you? So what to do? Well, HerZindagi talked to expert Chef Tanvi Gupta of Mad Batter who gave us this amazing Wholewheat Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe that’s a hit with kids (especially her cute two-year-old daughter!). Try this easy recipe and you’ll literally have the kids eating out of your hands for sure.

Ingredients To Make Wholewheat Chocolate Chip Cookies

  • Whole Wheat Flour (Atta): 1 Cup
  • Brown Sugar: 1/2 Cup
  • Chocolate chip: 1/4 Cup
  • Vanilla extract: 1/2 Tsp
  • Butter: 115 gm
  • Baking Soda: 1/4 Tsp
  • Salt: 1/4 Tsp
  • Milk: 2 Tbsp (if required)

Preparation

  • In a bowl beat together the butter and the brown sugar.
  • In a separate mixing bowl, add all the dry ingredients (baking powder, flour and salt) and sieve them together.
  • Add vanilla and dry ingredients to the butter sugar mixture.
  • If the batter does not come together, add milk as required.
  • Fold in chocolate chips, saving some to place on top of the cookies.
  • Take a tablespoon of the batter, roll and press it down to form a cookie.
  • Place on a parchment sheet and bake in a pre-heated oven at 170 degrees for 10-12 minutes till the cookie is browning at the edges.
  • Remove from the tray and let the cookies cool on a cooling rack.

Chocolate chips in this recipe can be switched for any other chocolate, almonds or gems to make a variety of cookies.
